Anwar Shaikh: A Return to Classical Political Economy?

For our third lecture of the Rethinking Economics Amsterdam Lecture Series, we are proud to welcome professor Anwar Shaikh! Through this lecture on Classical Political Economy, we hope to introduce students to how the ideas and methods of economists like Adam Smith and David Ricardo have been misinterpreted, and how they’re still relevant today!

Professor Shaikh’s work has culminated in his monumental textbook, Capitalism: Competition, Conflict Crises, where he rebuilds micro and macroeconomic theory on the basis of classical political economy, and shows how empirically they are excellent predictors of real-world economic phenomena.

Professor Shaikh’s lecture will be held on 18:00 CET until 20:00 CET, and will have a live Q&A session in the end!
